Harry Potter and the Penguins by kyunim2804

People said the war ended with a bang.

Harry disagreed.

The war ended with the deafening silence. Where once there was curses exchanged, taunts traded and screeches of unknown origins, there now was only silence.

His wand loosely held, Harry looked down at the corpse of one Tom Marvolo Riddle, thinking how easy it was to break the pitiful link of his soul to the mortal coil.

For a moment, Harry bowed his head in respect. One day, people will talk about how he gave the last respect to one of the most powerful wizard in the world or how he was grieving for his childhood ending in taking the life of another.

Harry would nod and agree.

Because the truth was more terrifying.

Harry took a deep breath and wiped the smile off his face before turning his back on his fallen enemy...and the wizarding world in general.

## one year later

Harry smiled as he knocked on the door of the potion laboratory, silently wondering if Snape has already turned to dust from all the sunlight. He chuckled to himself as the door opened and the wizard in question, obviously still in one piece snapped at him.

"What are you waiting for, Potter? an invitation? Get to it." Snape gestured absentmindedly at the pile of cauldrons in the sink. Much like detention years ago, Harry mumbled under his breath for the sake of a show and rolled up his sleeves.

He watched Snape as he scrubbed some weird looking goo on the bottom of the couldron, wondering if Ilvermony used a different syllabus than Hogwarts because he was sure even Neville's more amazing failure never resulted in these.

Two hours later, when Harry was almost sure that Snape had forgotten that he was there, the wizard in question suddenly stood up and looked at him.

"I believe it's time for tea."

"...It's noon, sir." Harry said to himself before he realised that Snape already stalked past him into his office. Harry followed him, trying to appear as if he wasn't trying to smell Snape, which was quite obvious. Another door inside the office opened to Snape's sitting room and Harry tried not stare as he realised that the room looked exactly like the one in Hogwarts.

"Sit, Potter. I believe you're still capable of the action." Snape drawled as he poured the tea, adding plenty of milk before passing it to Harry.

"It's the same." Harry was suddenly taken back to his sixth year, talking to Snape in his sitting room, sipping tea drowned in milk as Snape would like to it.

"It's not. For one thing, you're no longer my student, Potter."

"And the other?" If Harry expected an answer for that, he was sorely disappointed as snape simply raised his eyebrow.

"Where are you going to next?"

"I think I'm staying. Traveling alone was beginning to make me feel lonely."

"I don't think lonely is a word I would connect to you. I'm sure, there's a line of men and women waiting to warm your bed."

Harry smirked as he waited for Snape to sip his tea before answering the unspoken question.

"Severus, did you forget? I was saving myself for you." He was treated to the beautiful flush on Snape's face. After two years, nothing has changed.

"And whatever makes you think that there is no one for me while you were busy killing people and gallivanting with penguins?" Harry's face blanched as he placed the cup back on the table and tried to hide the tremble in his hands. A futile endeavour really considering that his entire body was trembling.

"I...I'm sorry. I...I should..." Snape glared and slammed his cup down.

"Oh sit down, Potter! there's no one else. I can see your acting from a mile away." Harry smirked and crossed his leg before taking back his cup.

"I don't know what you're talking about, professor."

"Slytherin." Snape cursed under his breath.

"I assure you that the hat put me in Gryffindor."

"There's nothing more dangerous than a snake in lion skin." Harry nibbled happily on a biscuit, effectively ignoring Snape.

"Potter..." Snape's voice was low and dangerous, the usual prelude to detention.

"You know what's the worst thing about North Pole? It's so hard to find food that are not frozen. Warming charms can't do much really."

"Potter, stop nibbling that bloody biscuit!"

"Impatient, aren't we, Severus? You waited for two years, I'm sure you can wait for another biscuit...or twenty." Severus banished the biscuits and dragged Harry by the collar into the bedroom.

"I waited for two years, I'm bloody sure I won't wait for you to finish your sodding biscuits." The muffled sound of Harry's laughter was cut off as the silencing charm was casted.
